Goals of:

National Institutes of Health

  • Investigate the development and progress of diseases that cause disease disparities among minority groups
  • Community outreach
  • Encourage the participation of members of health disparity groups in biomedical and behavioral research such as:
    • Bridges to the Baccalaureate - QCC RIMS
    • MARC - CUNY and SUNY senior colleges
    • Bridges to the Doctorate - CUNY Graduate Center

 

QCC Bridges Program

  • Improve training and graduation rates of under represented minority science students through:
    • Faculty mentored research - RIMS
    • Student conference attendance
  • Increase academic achievement through:
    • Enrichment workshops and web based activities in General Biology (BI-201)
    • Tutoring in Biology and Chemistry
  • Increase transfer rate to Baccalaureate programs through:
    • seminars by research scientists
    • transfer workshops and individualized counseling
